Flirty in White | Style

I've had this skirt for a few seasons now and I've completely fallen back in love with it. I first got it for a vacation, thinking that I wouldn't wear it much afterwards, but it's so easy to pair with pieces in my wardrobe, that it's become a true staple.
How can I gush about this top without sounding like a complete mess? I've loved it since the first time I saw it, in a pile of my Mum's old pieces. I noticed the beautiful crochet detailing straight away and knew I'd find interesting ways of wearing it. I also love how it used to belong to my Mum and while I've had it for a few years now, I can pull it out every summer and it never looks dated or out of style.

This outfit is great because you can wear it super casually (Here) or it pairs really nicely with any heeled sandal for a dressier occasion. I think this look would be perfect for a more casual, outdoor summer wedding. And because the skirt and top are neutral colours, you can pair them with any kind of bright, pop of colour accessory. You could definitely pair this with a rosy-nude heel and a bright red clutch for that extra sparkle to the outfit.

Also, on a different note, these heels are the most amazing things. They may get dirty quite quickly but they're so comfortable and wearable that the extra time putting into keeping them clean is definitely worth it.

The Pink Edit | Beauty

Throughout the year, I'm the kind of girl who usually stays away from bright pinks. However, when summer time comes and the sun is shinning, you know I'm pulling my pink lip glosses and blushes out for all to see. I really start to gravitate towards the brighter, more "cheer-y" tones and they completely take over my makeup routine.

I feel like this gravitation towards brighter colours is seen in both my style and my beauty routine. During the colder months, I don't wear anything that isn't neutral, however, during summer, I have no problem pulling out my flowy, floral dresses and wearing them all day, everyday.

These lip glosses are my perfect shades of pink because they are pigmented but still muted so they're great for the everyday. On the days when I've taken a little more sun or I've applied some self-tanner, I'll even reach for a beautiful coral shade, like Clinique's Chubby Stick in "Heftiest Hibiscus".

I've always found that the brighter corals and pinks suit me so much more when I'm a little more tanned. That's why I've loved my Smashbox Duo in "Cosmopolitan" (similar) for years, the coral blush compliments a tan so beautifully and the bronzer is perfect for a cooler, olive skin tone. Both M.A.C's Stereo Rose (similar) and Bobbi Brown's Shimmer Brick in "Rose" are also perfect for an all over glow because they act as both a highlight and blush.

Makeup is all about having fun and I love how my preferences change based on the seasons, my outfits and even my mood. While I'll always have my go-to products, it's fun to be able to pick your daily style the moment you sit down at your counter and apply your makeup.

City Life| Style

Canadian Fashion

As I am writing this, I'm currently up at my cottage enjoying being in nature instead of the hustle and bustle of the city. Every now and then I get sick of the city and feel like a little escape up north is exactly what I need to lift my spirits.

Unfortunately, I got hit with a very unattractive cold last week. While, in the past, I could have let it get the best of me, I tried very hard to be conscious of my emotions. I realized that time was going to be the only true healer of it and impatiently waiting to go back to work wasn't going to make anything better. I packed a bag Friday night and set up to my happy place, the cottage.

While I slept the majority of Saturday, it was really nice to be by the outdoor fire simply taking in the much needed fresh air and calmness of the area. It was also quite nice to wake up this morning without any streets noises and genuinely feel a lot better.

I am very much a city girl, but every now and then it's really nice to escape the madness of the city and enjoy a weekend by the lake.

Go-To Makeup Look | Beauty

So I have to admit, this is a nerve racking post to publish. Back at the end of last year, I uploaded my very first YouTube video and it was one of the scariest things to do. I'm not 100% sure why but I let my fears get the best of me. Since then, I've been able to do in a few times, but I've been too shy to upload consistently.

Well that changes today. For some reason, not only did I feel I was ready to post a new video but I decided to bare my naked face to the internet. I'm sure I'm not the only girl out there, who's a little self-conscious about not wearing any makeup in front of strangers. But you know what, I did it, the video is now live and who know's what will happen next.

I'd like to continue to make new videos to share with you all but I'm not sure how frequent they'll be. Let's just say, when I'm ready to film them I will and when I feel like video format is the best way to convey what I want to share then that's what I'll do.

Always Evolving| Style

I've recently started reading a book called The Confidence Code and I was drawn to it because I've always felt that I've struggled with confidence or a lack there of. From what I've read so far, the book discusses how women are socially taught at a young age that perfection and hard work are more important then increasing success. Now, they make it very clear that this is a generalization of women and that we don't all feel this way, but I can relate to the feeling that I do not deserve an accomplishment that has been given to me.

I can relate to the feeling of not being "good enough" or thinking I don't deserve something. I'm aware that it's not a logical train of thought, but that's where the confidence aspect comes in. However, the advantage of realizing this at a younger age is that it's easier to make conscious efforts to change my thought process.

In the past years, I have quickly realized that by being conscious of your emotions, you are that much closer to better understanding yourself and that simply means you're evolving. And, I guess what I'm trying to say, is that your twenties and on ward is that time when you can constantly rediscover yourself and learn about who you want be.

I've found that when I keep myself on a schedule and allow myself to always be doing something, it keeps my head from wandering away from my goals and allows me to consistently check things off my "to-do list". As well, knowing when to take a break and when to stop scrutinizing your every decision is something that has come in super handy, it's just a matter of being aware of when you're doing it and making a firm effort to stop.
