We all have that one product to which we automatically gravitate towards. If I could only buy one item of makeup for the rest of my life, it would be...lipsticks. Yes, I'll miss my foundations, my mascaras and my eye palettes, but at the end of the day, lipsticks have stolen my heart.

I've been loving these cooler days. The weather has been so beautiful this past week and even though it's gotten slightly colder, it's given me the opportunity to look through some more transitional pieces that I otherwise couldn't wear in the summer humidity.

I love the casual and comfortable feel of this outfit. I find myself gravitating towards these types of looks much more frequently now that I'm a little busier and I don't have an ample amount of time to get ready. This outfit puts into the spotlight two stores that have recently taken possession of my heart (and wallet). Those boutiques are Oak and Fort and Noul. They are sister stores originally from Vancouver but have made there way across the country, opening stores in various cities. Sadly, they have yet to open anything in Montreal, but hopefully that won't be the case for very long...


I visited them at their location in Toronto (Eaton Centre) and I very much enjoyed my experience. I happened to be there during their opening week so the entire place was new and clean. It has a very minimalistic atmosphere, which makes it look really sophisticated and neat.

The girls working there were also really wonderful. It's been a while since I've walked into a boutique and received such good service. They were very welcoming and without being pushy, really made an effort to help you figure out an entire outfit, rather then a single piece. Working in retail, I've realized very quickly how difficult the job can be but also how some stores simply don't put customer service as a priority. It was so refreshing to walk in and automatically be greeted with a smile and a "Hi". I actually ended up at the store twice during my stay and each time had a conversation with the girls that were helping me.


This location sold both brands but I'm not sure if that's the case in all their boutiques or exclusive to that specific store. I paired their pieces with a basic black crop top and then with some simple black flats. I was on my way to work so I didn't want to dress it up too much, but you can definitely pair this with some oxford flats or black heels. I think it would work well for a night out.

I've been wearing this makeup look lately. It's a very simple eye look but allows for a great pop of colour on the lips. This look is great for everyday and it's super easy for class. Apart from if you choose a vibrant lip colour, it's very natural  and gives off a beautiful glow. I love the pairing of a natural eye makeup with a pop of colour on the lips because it makes me feel so much more cheery and put together.


M.A.C Studio Fix (NC25): I start off with my foundation and I've used this one on and off for a few years now. It has really great coverage but if you don't have problematic skin (as I do) it could be a little heavy.

M.A.C Studio Finish Concealer (NC20): This is a great coverage concealer. Again, it is on the heavier side, but I love the finishing look it gives. I only use this on my blemishes and on the red-er areas of my face.

Rimmel Wake Me Up Concealer: To be honest, I can't remember which shade I got this in because it's been scraped off. I do get it in a shade lighter then though because I use this under my eyes to brighten the area. I'll also take this and apply it on the top of my forehead and on my cupid's bow (right above my lip). I do this because it helps with my dark circles and because it helps brighten up my face by giving me a natural glow.

Rimmel Stay Matte Powder (Sandstorm): I then set my face with a powder and I just love this one. I've tried a few setting powders and some have worked really well but I've continuously gone back to using this one. It isn't expensive and it does the job beautifully. I'll apply this to set my under-eye area and in my T-zone.

Lise Watier Bronzer: This was a limited edition bronzer, from their Summer 2015 collection, but I've linked a very similar bronzer from their permanent collection. I absolutely love it. It's got a beautiful mixture of bronze, gold and pink pigments. It's not the heaviest bronzer, but I love the glow it gives and for me, I don't find myself needing a huge amount of bronzing powder.

Charlotte Tilbury Filmstar Bronze and Glow (light/medium): I've spoken about this quite a lot lately but I just really enjoy using it. I contour very slightly right under the cheekbone and then I'll use the highlight shade right at the top of the apples of my cheeks.


Nars Smudge Proof Primer: Not much to say about this eye primer, but I really enjoy this one and it keeps my eyeshadow on all day. Does it's job and so I'm happy.

Rimmel ScandalEyes Eyeliner "Brown" : I'll only use this to tight line under my lashes just so that they seem fuller.

M.A.C Eyeshadow in "Naked Lunch": I use this lighter colour all over my lid just to even it all out and to have a little bit of shine.

M.A.C Eyeshadow in "Wedge": I'll then take "Wedge" and apply it in my crease to define and give some more depth.

Maybelline Lash Sensational "Blackest Black": I've been using this mascara all summer and I still love it. It gives such a full and voluminous affect while still lengthening my lashes.

As I mentioned in my last post, I returned to university this week, after taking a year off. Today brings an end to my first week back. I have to say, I'm decently pleased. Obviously you can't expect much in your first few classes but it's a real relief being back in the school routine. All of last week, I stressed myself out because, let's face it....there was no real reason. I had already experienced university but being at a new institution made me anxious. I'm currently feeling a lot less nervous about it all and while I can't give a full review just yet, I'm coming to the conclusion, that hey, this really isn't so bad.

I hope everyone is enjoyed their long weekend and was able to take full advantage of Labour day! I posted a picture of this look on Instagram about a week and a half ago but thought I would write up a little post about it here as well.
First off, can I just comment on the fact that there's hardly any black in this look (let's not pay any attention to my flats).

I decided to accessorize my Boohoo (similar) navy dress with some layers and stand out jewelry. I began with pairing it with this gorgeous white Zara blazer. I love that sleeveless blazers are coming back in style, I've always been a fan of vests but I can really appreciate the structured and sophisticated look this blazer gives. I know I'll be getting a tone of use out of it in the upcoming weeks and will be able to pair it for both casual and dressy occasions.


I also decided to accessorize this look with a gold body chain. Now, I've always been very unsure about these. I've found it to be very hard to pull off these body necklaces and while others seem to do it so well, I didn't really think I could. Well, turns out the trick is to keep the rest of your jewelry very minimal and to stick to a simpler dress. I got my chain during Montreal's Fashion and Design Festival by a brand called My Addikt and unfortunately I can't seem to find the exact body chain on their website, so here's a similar one.


Finally I finished off the look with a Burgundy hat. I loved mixing the navy with the burgundy because I find both tones compliment each other really well. Plus, a hat always gives so much more attitude and character to an outfit.

I don't know about you, but I'm very excited to be going back to school. This year, I took some time off from university and decided to focus on work and travel. I may have worked a little more then traveled (to my liking) but I'm really proud of how I've grown as an individual. I've discovered more about myself and I'm, once again, back in a place where I feel happy and content with my life.

One thing I learnt whilst being away from school, was how much I loved and missed school. Maybe it was the job I had or the travel experience, but I realized I missed the habitual act of learning. I found myself missing being in a classroom and learning about things I was passionate about. I'm so happy I made the effort of experiencing new cities and actively seeking new knowledge during my time off. I don't know what I would have done if all I had done was work.

Anyways, moving on to the point of this post, I thought I would share the items I would be taking to class on an everyday basis. I'm sure this may very well change as the semester goes on, but this is my push to start the school year prepared and organized.

First and foremost, I'll start of with the bag. Looking through my collection, I'll definitely be using my Zara Office City bag the most throughout the semester. I bought mine nearly 2 years ago and I still find myself reaching for it on days I know I'll be needing a larger purse. I love that I got it in grey (most of my bags are black) because it still works with pretty much all my outfits and I can use it during the winter months. I'm not going to lie, I have been looking for the perfect backpack so my bag situation may change but until I find something I really love, I'll be sticking with this one.


Kate Spade Agenda: Obviously I need an agenda with me. I can't remember anything if I don't write it down. I do wish this one were a little smaller but the layout is perfect for me and I fell in love with the cover when I saw it.

Journal: This may be just me, but I take class notes in a journal rather then a notebook. This probably sounds really vain, but I'm more likely to be motivated in taking notes if the journal is pretty rather then just jotting them down in a standard notebook.

Ted Baker Pencil Case: This one carries just the right amount of pencils and pens needed for the day. It also fits a USB stick and the "mandatory" lip product.


Harrod's Cosmetic Bag: This is a tiny black makeup bag that I carry around in every purse I use. It carries the unnecessary abundance of lip products along with some necessities including: blotting papers, hand cream and tampons.

Water Bottle: I'm not the best at drinking water throughout the day but I have been making a conscious effort to drink more these last few weeks, so I'm hoping the pattern continues when the semester begins.

A snack: I think the majority would agree that it's always better to bring something from home then having to go out and buy something to munch on.

Wallet: Standard item that I carry around anywhere I go. This one is from Michael Kors and I really like the size since it isn't as small as a coin purse but also doesn't take up a huge amount of space.

Opus Card&Keys&Phone: Obviously can't leave the house without these little guys.

Honorary Mention: My laptop. I'm sure it isn't something I'll be carrying around every single day, but it is an item I'll take to class with me on days when I have longer breaks and can fit some studying (or maybe even some blogging) between classes.
