Weekends for me are all about comfort. Comfort, while still looking like I tried a little that morning.

That being said, I don't think you can ever go wrong with some jeans and a floppy hat. If there had been sun, then definitely a pair of sunglasses to complete the look :)

While I may spend most of my time in a library, writing a paper or sat in front of my laptop, I don't think it should take up the entire two days. I've quickly learned that a few hours spent outside is probably one of the most therapeutic things you can do, and a night out with friends (without worrying about what's due that upcoming week) is how I'll survive my university years.

Boutique 1861

As soon as I saw this dress I feel in love and couldn't leave without it. That right there, is the true problem of a shopper ;) Right away, I saw myself wearing it super casually (like with these boots) or with a black belt and a pair of nude heels.

I was also really pulled in by the colours of the flowers. The purple and lilac are so vibrant that they catch your eye right away.
In terms of styling it, I decided to have some fun with the rest of my accessories and wear my burgundy hat and a berry toned lipstick. While I don't think it's always necessary to match everything, I had some fun doing it with this look. :)

I really love when I can wear dresses in the winter time.While I know that this year is not the norm here in Montreal, it's nice to be able to wear a dress and not feel like my legs are going to fall off. Pair the outfit with a wool coat, or even a leather jacket (on warmer days) and it fits perfectly.

I love days when I feel super comfortable and happy in my outfit and that's exactly how I feel in what I'm wearing. Winter can definitely be one of those times of the year when we aren't all that motivated to put any effort into our style. However, we could let it be a season when we experiment and have fun with our wardrobe. Why not try different textures and combine some spring items with our warmer pieces...

This jean vest is a perfect example. I loved pairing it with the long sleeve shirt because it gave the entire outfit a little more edge and it allowed me to pull something out of my spring/summer wardrobe.

Throw on a pair of Docs, a cute hat and even a scarf (to stay even warmer) and you've got yourself a great winter outfit.

Last week, I wrote a post about one of my essential pieces, the trench coat. I thought I'd carry that theme on and discuss another must-have of mine... Blazers. I don't think you can ever go wrong with a well structured blazer, it's one of my favourite pieces to wear.

It's become so easy to find some key pieces at affordable prices. These days, blazers are made by almost all high street stores in an array of different colours. I have to admit, the majority of mine are black, but I have a couple pastel ones, perfect for the spring and summer time. You can pair them with almost any outfit and you'll look put together.

I find myself wearing blazers so much in the winter time because they add such sophistication to any outfit. They're also really easy to pair with, meaning I spend less time staring into my closet trying to decide what to wear while staying warm at the same time.

This blazer is quite a casual one, the cut fits really nicely with jeans or even paired with a skirt. However, you can definitely find some more fitted ones if your looking to pair it with a suit. My favourite style is the tuxedo blazer because they work for both casual and smarter outfits.
