Macadamia Chocolate Chip Cookies| Baking

I really enjoy being in the kitchen. I can't say I'm the greatest cook/baker but I really appreciate making food for others. I unfortunately don't bake as much as I'd like but figured my Christmas break would be a perfect time to make something new.

I don't really follow a specific diet but I do enjoy finding healthy alternatives to typically unhealthy foods, for example: these cookies. These are paleo macadamia and chocolate chip cookies. They contain no dairy or wheat. Here's how you make them :)

I'm using a recipe from Julie Bauer and George Bryant's "The Paleo Kitchen" (found on page 267)

Ingredients needed:

1 cup macadamia butter (I made my own by grinding 300g of macadamia nuts in a food processor)
1 egg
1/4 organic honey
1/4 coconut oil ( I used coconut sunflower because I ran out of coconut oil)
2 tablespoons of coconut flour
1/2 chocolate chips (I used dark chocolate ones)

Firstly, I turned my oven on to 350 degrees. Then, it's a matter of adding all the wet ingredients into a mixing bowl until smooth and adding the dry ones (except the chocolate)afterwards. Combine all the ingredients until the batter is smooth. This may take a little bit more time if the honey begins to harden but continue to mix and it'll settle properly. I added the chocolate chips and mixed them into the batter with a plastic spatula. Afterwards, I let the mixture harden in the fridge for about 10 minutes.

The recipe called for making medium sized balls but I wanted to make a few more so I used a mellon ball scooper to shape the cookies. I also wasn't sure if they would grow significantly so I made 9 in each batch (2 1/2 batches in total) but realistically I could have fit more on a medium sized pan. I left each batch in the oven for 12-14 minutes.

The cookies turned out perfectly. My tip for testing them is to offer one to someone and just let them know that they're regular chocolate chip and macadamia cookies. When I gave them to my tester, he thought they were normal cookies and said they were delicious. It's only after he ate them that I let him know they didn't contain sugar.

I think these are wonderful gifts to offer someone as a hostess present or simply someone you know will love and appreciate something that is homemade. Baking or making something for others is a great idea for gifts, especially when you're on a budget.

Hi everyone!<3 I hope you're all having a productive week:) It's my last week of final exams and I'm very much looking forward to a little break for classes. Today, I've got my last #MiaXmasPrep beauty post going up. For the occasion, I thought I'd do a look that was quintessentially me. So of course, I pulled out all my purple toned shadows :). We're going for a defined eye today and a neutral lip. I hope you enjoy! <3

The Bases:

The bases I used today are very much staples of mine. I went for my all-time favourite Hourglass Veil Mineral Primer and for my eyes, I opted to use the Nars Smudge Proof Eyeshadow Base.

The Face:

For this look, I decided to use a mix of two foundations. I wanted to get the gorgeous glow of the Bourjois Healthy Mix and the staying power of L'oreal Infalliable Pro-Matte. Both these products mix really well together and give a perfect combination of high coverage and fresh faced. Because my skin isn't the best at the moment, I used a thicker concealer, the M.A.C Studio Finish. I also opted to use my trusty Rimmel Wake Me Up under-eye concealer. Finally, I set all of that with a setting powder.

The Eyes:

For this beauty post, I thought I would mainly use shadows from my M.A.C palette. Firstly, I used "Wedge" to fill out my eyebrows. I applied this Charlotte Tilbury Colour Chameleon (Amethyst Aphrodisiac) all over my lid and then used "Naked Lunch" in the inner corner. I used both "Mythology" and "Sable" in the centre and outer areas of my eyes and then applied "Sketch" to smoke out the outer corner. For the bottom lashes, I went in with a Makeup Forever Aqua Eyes (Soft Plum) on my lower lash line and to enhance that, I decided to smudged a bit of "Sketch" on top of the liner. Finally, I finished up my eyes with one of my favourite mascaras, the Maybelline Lash Sensational.

The Cheeks:

I decided to reach for the Charlotte Tilbury Filmstar Bronze & Glow today and this works perfectly to create definition without looking overly done up. Before going in with the highlight from the palette, I lightly dusty a bit of this pink Revlon Blush (Rose Glow) for a slight amount of colour on my cheeks.

The Lips:

Like I said at the start, the eyes are very the main focus of this look so I wanted to go for a muted lip. That's why I opted for this gorgeous mauvy-pink lipstick from Bite (Meritage). It's got a beautiful sheen and great longevity.

Pink for the Holidays| Beauty

Welcome back to another #MiaXmasPrep post all about a gorgeous pink holiday lip. I thought I'd create a look that would work super well for a Christmas Day dinner. :)

It's not very often that I wear a "bright" pink lip but as I was figuring out this entire look, I realized that it would be the perfect finishing touch. The main focus on this entire look is the eyes, so I'll go into more depth about that. I hope you enjoy the look!<3

The Base:

We all know I like a clean base, so I started with my favourite products. I went in with a primer and then before applying my foundation, I used Benefit's brightening camouflage. I'm prone to strong under-eye dar circle and it is finals, so I decided to add an extra step with the heavy duty stuff. Next, I opted for a matte foundation because I wanted to concentrate on specific areas for any shimmer later on. Finally I used my standard concealer for blemishes and an under-eye brightener to layer over that first under-eye product.

The Eyes:

I applied my very loved eyeshadow primer and then did my eyebrows so that it had some time to dry. Today, I used a combination of two MAC shades, "omega" and "wedge" for my eyebrows and they gave a really nice natural finish while still filling in the areas where the hairs are a little sparse.

For this look I opted for one of my favourites, the Too Faced Natural Eyes palette. All over the lid, I applied "Heaven" and then right in the middle used "Push Up". I then used "Cashmere Bunny" in the crease to create more depth. Towards the outer corner of the eye, I went for a mix of "Erotica" and "Sexspresso". If you decide to recreate this look, remember to blend everything as you go along;) In the inner corners of my eyes I then went in and applied some "Silk Teddy". I also used that on the inside lower lash line and then towards the outer ends of that lash line, I used "Erotica".

The Face:

I used a translucent powder to set my liquid base products and then went straight in for my bronzer. I applied that on the outer extremities of my face, where light would naturally hit. After that, I used a dark pink, almost plum, blush on the apples of my cheeks. To finish, I applied a fair amount of highlight to the top of my cheek and brow bone.

The Lips:

Like I said at the start, bright pink isn't a lip shade I'd normally go for, especially in the winter, but I thought this one would pull the entire look together. Because it's in stick form, the colour is very easy to manipulate. I dabbed it on my lips so that I wasn't making it too matte but rather creating a nice sheer finish. It's quite an old rose pink shade which I think works perfectly for the holidays.
